2011 Pinot Noir

2011 Russian River Pinot Noir

Silver medal at the 2014 Pinot Noir Shootout, Bronze at the 2014 SF Chronicle Wine Competition.

Harvested October 1 & 15, (~ 1.4 ton/acre, 21-24 degrees Brix, 3.3-3.4 pH). 0.95 tons / 0.75 acres

Clones: 40% 777 (more than usual), 19% 115, 19% 667, 19% VCR 18, and a touch of pomard.

3-12 day cold soak, 7-8 day fermentation, and 6 day extended maceration.

12 months in French oak (1/3 new).

... earthy, multi layered, rich ruby color, but with noticible red fruit...

Nose: cedar, dark cherry, Christmas spices.

Taste: black cherries, cola, plum, currants, cloves, with a kiss-goodbye finish. Balanced structure.

14.0% alcohol, <0.2% RS. Bottled 9 Nov 12. 80 cases made. NOT MUCH LEFT! Price $24/bottle



2012 Chardonnay

2012 Russian River Chardonnay

Silver Medal at the 2015 San Diego International Wine Competition.

Harvested October 11 from the Bravo Toro vineyard (23.4 degrees Brix and 3.56 pH). 1.7 tons / 0.55 acre.

Clones: ~ 60% Dijon 95 and ~ 40% Dijon 76.

Barrel fermented (9 days) with Enartis Vintage White and M2 yeasts. Full malolactic fermentation. Fined and filtered.

12 months in French oak (1/3 new).

Nose: baking bread, honey-dew melon.

Taste: softly yeasty, lemon, citrus, balanced, intigrated acidity, silky mouthfeel.

14.5% alcohol, <0.1% RS. Bottled 19 Sep 13. 63 cases made. Price $24/bottle



2012 Merlot

2012 Russian River Merlot

Harvested October 9 from the Bravo Toro vineyard (23 degrees Brix). 0.35 tons / 0.1 acre.

Clones: 181. 15% Pinot Noir was used in the blend, and the bouquet and taste reflects this addition.

11 day fermentation with RA12 yeast. Fined and filtered.

12 months in French oak.

Nose: light plum, cedar.

Taste: huckleberry, plum, hints of vanilla oak.

14.1% alcohol, <0.1% RS. Bottled 22 Sep 13. 22 cases made (one barrel - too small for competitions). Price $24/bottle



2013 Pinot Noir

2013 Russian River Pinot Noir

Gold medal at the 2016 at the 2016 SF Chronicle Wine Competition.

Harvested September 14 (23.7 degrees brix, 3.41 pH) & September 28 (25 degrees Brix, 3.57 pH). 3.4 tons / 0.75 acres.

Clones: 34% 777, 26% 115, 26% 667, 14% VCR 18, and a touch of pomard.

4 day cold soak, 7 & 12 day fermentation, and 9 day extended maceration.

12 months in French oak (1/3 new).

Nose: red currents, cherry-tart, hint of vanilla.

Taste: berry compote, cranberry, hints of cedar and roast beef. Rose-water, vanilla, berry finish.

14.4% alcohol, <0.1% RS. Bottled 11 Nov 14. 180 cases made. Price $36/bottle



2013 Chardonnay

2013 Russian River Chardonnay

Bronze medal at the 2015 SF Chronicle Wine Competition.

Harvested October 3 from the Bravo Toro vineyard (24.1 degrees Brix and 3.53 pH). 1.45 tons / 0.55 acre.

Clones: 55% Dijon 95 and 45% Dijon 76.

Barrel fermented (8 days) with Enartis Vintage White and M2 yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation. Fined and filtered.

12 months in French oak (33% new).

Nose: crushed pears, floral, hint of key-lime pie.

Taste: notes of citrus and grapefruit. Balanced, velvety mouthfeel.

14.5% alcohol, 0.1% RS. Bottled 11 Sep 14. 66 cases made. Price $28/bottle
